How to Make Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

How to Make Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of nearly a hundred cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are compounds that interact directly with our body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system, only discovered in the 90s, is a network of receptors that interact with our body’s own synthesized cannabinoids in order to maintain homeostasis. The ECS is responsible for regulating an array of physiological and cognitive processes that are instrumental in maintaining health and balancing our other body systems. CBD does not cause psychotropic effects like another cannabinoid THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD extracted from hemp has less than .3% THC.

Hemp Raw Material

It is best to start with CBD-rich plant material, classified as hemp because it has only trace amounts of THC and an abundance of cannabidiol. The legal limit for THC in states that do not have a medical marijuana program is .3% for THC. Palmetto Harmony uses the flower of the hemp plant, or the entire bud, to make the PH full spectrum hemp extract as well as incorporating selective breeding of specific strains to produce plants that are optimized for high CBD production. We also use organic practices at the farm including natural fertilizers such as worm castings and select natural insects that work as pest deterrents.

Bud Preparation and Decarboxylation

Palmetto Harmony plants are harvested by hand on our farm. They are then dried and cured for a period of time by hanging the plants as this step improves flavor.  Decarboxylation (decarb) of the flower after trimming, changes the CBDA into its active form CBD. This makes it more bio-available to the body.

The Method of Extracting to Create a Full-Spectrum Product

Full Spectrum extraction  is the process Palmetto Harmony utilizes to extract the beneficial substances from the buds of the plant using organic MCT as the carrier oil. The plant’s potentially therapeutic compounds: terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids, are retained as much as possible and end up providing substantially more health benefits than a distillate or an isolate product. Palmetto Harmony only uses the bud of the hemp plant. This is the only part that contains trichomes; which houses terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids. Palmetto Harmony does not use stalks and stems which dilute the overall Full Spectrum profile of the end product. No consumer wants “bark in their applesauce” or extra material that is not beneficial.

Full Spectrum extraction is more effective than other methods. Cannabis oil extracted with neurotoxic solvents like butane and hexane may leave unsafe residues that may compromise it’s function and impede healing. Organic MCT oil is the carrier oil of choice for Palmetto Harmony due to its natural benefits and increased bioavailability in the final product.

How is CBD Extracted?

The CBD is extracted from the flower of the plant with a proprietary extraction machine owned by Palmetto Harmony. The extractor is packed with a measured amount of decarboxylated material and a specific correlating amount of MCT oil. This machine extracts CBD and other natural compounds directing into the organic oil by using heat and pressure. This process naturally extracts CBD without any harsh fumes, harmful residues or flammability concerns. This extraction procedure has been coined a lipid infusion. In reality, this is not a harmful extraction but an organic, herbal infusion method. Palmetto Harmony’s flower-lipid infusion method has been proven to create the highest, supercharged CBD product on the market.

Testing, Homogenizing and Bottling

Testing is an important step that Palmetto Harmony consistently performs on each and every batch and lot. This ensures that the levels of CBD are within the proper range and there are no dangerous contaminants in the oil. We provide customers with ISO, third-party certified lab reports. The consumer is taking a risk if they purchase oil that is either homemade or from a company that does not disclose the prior information. The founder of Palmetto Harmony, Janel Ralph, drove the narrative that it is important for consumers to understand the importance of third-party lab results for the safety of themselves and their loved ones. As a result, Palmetto Harmony was created due to the implications of untested and unsafe products which at the time, were the only the only ones available for her daughter, Harmony.

The homogenizing process is performed in the Palmetto Harmony Lab prior to testing and bottling. Whipping the oil to ensure that it is mixed properly is another important step to ensure the consistency of the oil. The oil is then either bottled in glass or used to produce other Palmetto Harmony products such as transdermal patches or topics such as, Psorian, Cannacense and Holy Cannacense. All Palmetto Harmony products should be sealed and stored in a cool, dark place for maximum benefit.

  1. FYI…. I’ve been using the Holy Basil balm on my face and the results have been amazing. The smell takes a little getting used to but it’s worth it. I apply to my skin and let it sit a few minutes and the wipe the extra oil off with a tissue. I’m 57 and it has helped considerably. Thank you
