PTSD and Palmetto Harmony

PTSD and Harmony

An introduction to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) occurs when a person has experienced severe trauma. Nearly 7-8% of the American population is effected by PTSD. Therefore, 6 in 10 men and 5 in 10 women experience trauma in their lifetimes. PTSD is classified by not being able to properly respond to fear. Such as explosive anger, physical violence, spontaneous crying, flashbacks, and other reactions. Some causes of PTSD are accidents, sexual assault, combat, violence, early childhood trauma, or experiencing a death close to oneself.

Treatment

A few examples of medications used for PTSD are Prozac, Paxil or Zoloft. However, these medications come with not only a list of side effects, but the potential to overdose. Side effects of these drugs can include suicidal/violent thoughts, increased risk for diabetes, risk of stroke, immune system difficulties, heart disease, birth defects, stillbirth, and brittle bones. Recent studies have shown that antidepressant overdoses take up to 40,000 lives per year. Meanwhile, no current cannabis related deaths have been recorded. There are almost thirty different kinds of antidepressants available today. Although, there are five main kinds, all of which have severe side effects. So, what alternatives can you take to improve the quality of life?

Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil

Full spectrum hemp oil is a known anti-psychotic, antidepressant, and sleep aid. The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is responsible for many aspects of regular functioning. When it comes to PTSD, it helps with your mood, memory, sleep, appetite, stress recovery, and homeostatic regulation. Palmetto Harmony could be an option for those who do not want to take prescription antidepressants. Full spectrum hemp oil could be safer than risking the side effects of being on prescription medication.

Very well written article; PTSD was not an acronym created for attention, as I’ve heard some people comment. I spent several years in the service, as well as know several people who has served…Vietnam, Desert Storm, or whatever the name of the particular war was at the time. Regardless, this is so much better than all those listed medicines. Thank you for going the extra mile for us…providing an alternative to the Big Pharma way of life…
